February: Honoring Black History Month ♡
Resources for Black Families & Families Facing Immigration Challenges
A Reaffirmation Statement from PSI Arizona -
We are steadfast in our vision: Families in every Arizona county and the 22 sovereign Tribal Nations within Arizona’s land base have access to culturally appropriate information, social support and informed professional care to address mental health issues related to childbearing. It is essential to provide these crucial resources while also recognizing and addressing the unique challenges faced by those affected by racial and economic inequities.
During these times of uncertainty, we believe that it’s even more important to highlight that every parent, regardless of background, deserves access to care, compassion, and the strength of community. We are here to stand by you, to listen, and to help bridge the gaps that too often exist in accessing the support that is needed.
As we honor Black History Month, it is crucial to acknowledge the ongoing disparities in healthcare, particularly within perinatal mental health. Almost 40% of Black mothers and birthing people will experience maternal mental health conditions (get the facts here)
Black individuals and families face unique challenges when it comes to accessing mental health resources during the perinatal period, which can significantly impact their well-being and the well-being of their children.
This month offers a unique opportunity to not only honor the rich legacy of Black individuals but also to advocate for systemic changes that ensure equitable, culturally competent care🌵!

📣 From Fear to Hope: Empowering Families Facing Immigration Challenges
In this piece, one of our PMH-C’s, Nallely Willis, shines a light on the experiences of immigrant caregivers, recognizing both the immense hurdles they face and the incredible hope that drives them forward. Through shared stories, resources, and community support, we can help uplift and empower these mothers, reminding them that they are not alone in their journey. Let this be a reminder that no matter the obstacles, there is always room for hope, healing, and connection.
