In May, PSI- AZ celebrates Maternal Mental Health Awareness Month. We are sharing the #WeAre1in5 campaign, to raise money and awareness for the 9,200 Arizonans that struggle with Perinatal Mental Health disorders each year.
Help PSI raise money to support programs and resources for all individuals in Arizona that struggle with this transition to parenthood. Our goal is to raise $9,200 to continue supporting the growth of PSI-AZ and provide scholarships to attend trainings in underserved communities.
Additionally in May, we celebrate Perinatal Psychosis Day (May 2nd), Bereaved Mother’s Day (May 4th), Termination for Medical Reasons Day (May 4th), Midwife’s Day (May 5th) and Mother’s Day (May 11th).
To acknowledge the difficult journey for those that have experienced postpartum psychosis, pregnancy loss, termination, stillbirth, and infant loss, PSI has the following support groups:
Pregnancy and Postpartum Psychosis Support for Survivors, Termination for Medical Reasons Group, Early Pregnancy Loss Support Group, Parenting After Loss, Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support for Moms, Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support for Parents, and Stillbirth and Infant Loss Support for Parents.
🌵Welcome PSI-AZ’s New Executive Director & Board Chair
Welcome to PSI Arizona’s first ever Executive Director, Dr. Katie Mommaerts, PhD, MSW, LCSW! Dr. Mommaerts (she/her) is a licensed clinical social worker who cares deeply about mental health equity and supporting families through vulnerable transitions. She has been navigating infertility for a few years now. While she doesn’t have answers yet, only questions, emotions, and a cautious hope that sharing her story might help her, and maybe someone else, feel less alone. Read her full bio
We also welcome our new Board Chairwoman, Dr. Kelly Cooper, PhD as we say goodbye to the outgoing Board Chairwoman Elizabeth Wood.
