Today is the National Day of Action for Maternal Mental Health
Advocate alongside thousands across the U.S. TODAY, April 2, in support of maternal mental health programs.
Cuts to federal funding for various programs have been making headlines for several weeks, and changes to the Department of Health and Human Services were recently announced.
Given the current political climate, we are taking a proactive approach by ensuring that our elected officials hear from as many people as possible about the importance of continuing to fund maternal mental health programs.
Contact your elected officials and ask them to continue the federal funding of the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline (which supports moms), and the Maternal Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders Program (which helps healthcare providers treat patients experiencing maternal mental health conditions).
And, it's easy to take action. We provide a form that enables you to email your elected officials in just a few clicks.
This is a one-day campaign, live on April 2 only. Don't wait to take action.
What programs are the focus of this Day of Action?
The National Maternal Mental Health Hotline: The Hotline (1-833-TLC-MAMA) provides 24/7 voice and text resources and support to moms and families.
The State Maternal Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders Program (also called Perinatal Psychiatry Access Programs): This program provides education, consultation, and resources to healthcare providers who support mothers.
How can I participate in the Day of Action?
You can participate in the Day of Action in two ways:
#1: Take Action
You can take action by using the form on the National Day of Action webpage on April 2. This will allow you to contact your elected officials in the federal government to let them know why they should support maternal mental health.
#2: Share the Campaign
You can share the National Day of Action webpage with your friends, family, colleagues, and network.
How many actions are needed?
We are aiming for 3,000 people to contact their elected officials on April 2. This is a big goal for an online campaign, but, with your help, we believe we can get there!
